Estonian President Urges Europe to Prepare for All Ukraine War Scenarios
During a state visit to Finland, Estonian President Alar Karis said Europe should be prepared for “every development” in the Ukraine peace process. He made the remarks at a joint press conference with Finnish President Alexander Stubb.
Karis stressed that European countries must have a seat at all discussions concerning their own security and should participate from a position of strength in order to help secure what he described as a fair and durable peace in Ukraine.
He also noted that, so far, there has been no meaningful progress in efforts to end Russia’s war in Ukraine, arguing that continued vigilance from European governments remains necessary.
The conflict, he said, continues to be a central issue for European security, and support for Ukraine should remain steady despite other global challenges.
In addition, Karis highlighted the importance of deeper cooperation in defense and security, particularly among Nordic and Baltic countries. He pointed out that Estonia and Finland operate within a closely connected strategic environment and share similar security concerns, underscoring the need for ongoing coordination between the two nations.
